I wan’t to spend copious amounts of money on my Mali to get it done.
http://umiperformance.com/catalog/index.…
I have decided I am going to push forward with the Mali project and make it a wicked awesome long distance cruiser / road warrior. I really wan’t this kit as I need 1/2 of the stuff in it already to just make the car safe.

Do it, UMI makes great stuff and it will change the car dramatically.

I know I need Springs, Shocks, Control arms, And bushings all around. So I saw this and thought it would be perfect. Plus people from UMI are always posting help on the Chevelle forums, even giving out cell numbers to help a customer and I love seeing support like that.

I'm looking at picking up a stage 4 kit with my bonus this year for my 86 Monte Carlo SS

I think my wallet just curled up and died at that thought. Also I think that is way overkill for my application, mine is a 4 door. But that stage 4 kit looked good.

yeah im not enthused about spending that kind of money, but every bushing on that car is 30+ years old. Also dont forget to replace all of your steering components when you do the suspension.

Yeah I’m going to put in a Power Steering box so tie rod ends, sleeves, and pitman arm all are going to get replaced. I already upgraded the brakes to 4 wheel disk.

The HEMIWagon is about to get a bunch of adjustable tube control arm goodies. Think of it this way, it opens up the door to more tire/wheel combinations, and it’s super easy to work on later in life. The upfront cost is high, yes, but thinking later on down the road, you’ll pay less for labor if you have to toss someone else the keys because it’ll be that much easier to work on.
Also, don’t forget that kit is front and rear! If it was just the front for that cost, we’d be having a different discussion, but it looks like a great deal to me considering what you’re going to be getting.

Also if you can find a steering box from a monte carlo SS it should bolt up, give you better steering effort and a quicker ratio.

Yeah its just that up front cost, I know it will be easier to do an alignment and maintain. Its just between that, the AC, and a few other parts I have some big purchases coming up.

I can pick up a quick ratio for 200 from almost any catalog. I just have to make my own line as I am using a serpentine belt kit from a 99 GMC Suburban (yes Towburban died and I took its parts).

Not bad, but a junkyard unit is like $50 lol.

I have had bad luck with anything used ... really bad luck.

If only kits for early Chrysler A bodies were as easy to come by.

Ramey is cool as hell.
Does RideTech make a tru-turn system for your steering?

Summit’s braided PS kit is nice, but kind of a PITA to make the hoses.

Can’t be as bad as putting together 2000 parker push-lok hoses

No, but the ferrules are pretty brutal.

I’ll look into it. I’m used to PITA

Yeah, I used them to connect to a remote resi to keep the fluid off of the engine. Looks cool too.

I’ll look into it and add it to my build list. I’m going to spend a new car on this thing
